Juneteenth & Our 1st UU Principle

TBA

Don West, Jr. delivered a Juneteenth and Father’s Day homily in 2022 as a guest speaker at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach, California (“UUFLB”) where he is also a member. The talk is organized around the jubilee of freedom that is Juneteenth and exploring the intersection of the Unitarian Universalists’ 1st Principle while issuing the challenge to explore history in a deeper and more thoughtful way. Featuring clips from Professors Marcia Chatelain, Eddie S. Glaude, Jr., and David Blain; Don’s paternal aunt and uncles; the Grandmother of Juneteenth – Ms. Opal Lee; and other interesting elements.

Our own Selma Sparks offers three reflections.
